I am a current second year medical student at the University of Texas at Southwestern Medical School who is passionate about mentoring, teaching, and helping others find a way to accomplish their goals. Before starting medical school, I was a chemistry and biology tutor, a reading/writing tutor for the SAT/ACT, and an essay editor for college admissions and scholarships. .
I completed my undergraduate degree at Boston University, where I enrolled in a dual degree program and earned my Bachelors in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and my Masters in Biotechnology.
Afterwards, I completed my second Masters in Medical Sciences at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth.
My experience through these different application cycles was often filled with confusion, doubt, and anxiety; however, I was fortunate enough to have strong mentors during my medical application process who gave me advice and perspective that made the process exciting and hopeful. I recently mentored a medical applicant who later gained acceptance to UTSW this last year.
I have a strong passion for global health and health equity, and I am currently working on a research project looking into the needs of trauma surgeons in Peru. I am also planning on participating in a medical exchange program with a French medical school, Université Paris Descartes. I am currently interested in Emergency Medicine or Trauma Surgery but am excited to explore different fields during my medical education!
